This is an example of a funeral program (also referred to as a memorial service bulletin or obituary program.) A funeral program is a printed document that contains information about the funeral or memorial service and contains the life achievements of the deceased.

Shown above is an example of a bifold 4 page funeral program. The outer cover usually contains a graphic design from many different themes such as religious, floral or a nature scene. It usually has a title such as "In Loving Memory" or "In Remembrance". It will have the location, time and date of the funeral or memorial service typically on the front cover. It may also contain the name of the service leader, the birth date and the death date.

This example shows the pall bearers, flower bearers, acknowledgments and funeral home information on the back cover.

The Order of Service

The inside cover contains the order of service. The order of services list the events of the funeral or memorial ceremony. A typical religious funeral order of service may include a musical prelude or processional, scripture readings, prayers and musical selections sung by a choir or soloist.  The order of service will have acknowledgments, the reading of cards and condolences and resolutions. 

The of service will list the individuals responsible for reading the obituary, or giving remarks or tributes, and will also list all persons giving the eulogy or special presentations.

The Obituary

The inside of the program may also contain an obituary. The obituary outlines the deceased's personal history, jobs, family, accomplishments. the Obituary printed in the funeral program is usually longer that the obituary published as the death announcement in the newspaper.  This funeral program obituary also tends to be a lot more personal, often mentioning special relationships, hobbies and interests of the deceased.

Additional information in the funeral program may also include poems, scriptures, music lyrics, the personal notes. Using funeral program templates can help make the process of creating beautiful funeral programs that are also cherished keepsakes.
